TRS claims membership of 60 lakh people

Insurance scheme for entire ruling party members

Hyderabad: TRS working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao claimed on Wednesday that the party has become an invincible force in Telangana state with over 60-lakh membership. The party leadership will stand with its “60-lakh member” family at all times and will protect every party activist, he said.

The minister was speaking after distributing the Rs 2 lakh insurance to the kin of each of the 80 deceased TRS members, at a programme held at Telangana Bhavan. He also handed over a Rs 80 crore cheque to an insurance company towards payment of premium for insurance coverage to the party workers.

Rama Rao said this type of insurance facility was being offered for the first time in the country by any political party.

“Only the TRS holds the distinction of taking care of party workers and providing free insurance coverage,” he claimed.

He said the party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao “always thinks about the welfare of the party workers.” Rama Rao later had lunch with the families of party workers at Telangana Bhavan.

The minister said he would address all the issues brought to his notice by those who joined him during lunch. Some asked for jobs, some houses, and some education for children. Party MLAs will sort out these issues in about 15 days.

The TRS will offer all help to the kin of the deceased family members of the party and there was no need to panic, he said.
