K Chandrashekar Rao may have to drop two Reddys
Hyderabad: There are 12 ministers in the present Cabinet, including the Chief Minister, and six more can be inducted. Out of the 12 council of ministers, five are from the Reddy community.
If Sukhender Reddy is to make it to the Cabinet, two ministers from the Reddy community will have to be dropped to accommodate him and Sabitha Indra Reddy, who had left the Congress to join the TRS during the LS polls.
Since the KCR government has been criticised for not having any woman cabinet minister during its previous tenure, the induction of a woman in the Cabinet this time will deflect some of the criticism. In fact, during the budget session, the Chief Minister had given an assurance that he will take two women members in his Cabinet when he expands it.
In the present council of ministers, there is no representation of the Munnur Kapu community though there are seven MLAs from the community. There is also no representation from the Schedule Tribes in the Cabinet.
The party leaders who are expecting the Cabinet expansion in the coming days are of the view that Mr Rao will take a woman MLA from the ST community into his Cabinet so that it will serve the purpose of accommodating both a woman and a ST.
