Gowda snub for Siddu: Why cabinet rank for ex-cm?
Bengaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah who is the chairman of the co-ordination committee may not get cabinet rank after all. This was politely conveyed by chief minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy to Congress members who attended the co-ordination committee meeting held last Sunday.
Sources in the Congress party said that the idea was first mooted by former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda who wanted to cut Mr Siddaramaiah to size. His argument was that since Mr Siddaramaiah was the former CM, conferring him with cabinet rank would only belittle his stature. AICC general secretary in charge, K.C. Venugopal, reportedly said the issue would be discussed in the next co-ordination committee meeting.
Prior to the meeting, JD (S) supremo, H.D. Deve Gowda who was also at Kumara Krupa Guest House, was closeted with Mr Venugopal for almost 20 minutes.
