VM Sudheeran gets bulk of blame
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KPCC camp executive meeting on Saturday witnessed heated discussions with several leaders blaming PCC president V. M. Sudheeran for the poll debacle and vice-president V. D. Satheeshan alleging that all the senior KPCC leaders were corrupt.
Vice-president M. M. Hassan demanded the resignation of Mr Sudheeran while a section of leaders said the delay in announcing the candidature was caused by Mr Sudheeran which put the party in a quandary. He alleged that Mr Sudheeran speaks only ideals and never acts.
However, Thrikkakara MLA P. T. Thomas supported Mr Sudheeran. Mr Oommen Chandy’s trusted lieutenant and Irikoor MLA K. C. Joseph defended Mr Chandy saying he was not corrupt. He also said that Mr Benny Behanan should have been fielded from Thrikkakara.
Many leaders alleged that it was the policy decisions taken by the Chandy government towards the fag end of his tenure that had caused the poll drubbing. On Sunday, the KPCC camp executive will discuss the draft resolution on the future strategies to revive the party. It may suggest that a leader should not hold on to the same post for more than three terms.
