CPI to probe E S Bijimol's allegations
Kottayam: The Communist Party of India (CPI) Idukki district committee will shortly begin an inquiry into the allegations of the party's Peerumedu MLA E.S. Bijimol that she was facing death threats, and a senior leader was behind it. Sources said the district leadership had asked Ms Bijimol to explain on her charges against a prominent state council member.
“The party will inquire into the issue after getting her explanation,”, said a senior district level functionary. Though the district committee had demanded the explanation, a decision can be taken only with the concurrence of the state council since both are its members.
The legislator raised the allegations in an interview with the ‘Kala Kaumudi’ magazine recently. Earlier, CPI Idukki district secretary K.K. Shivaraman said the charges were serious. However, the party leadership is not happy with the way she raised it outside the party.
They said, the CPI leader whom Bijimol implied without mentioning his name, is Vazhoor Soman. Both are also members of CPI Idukki district executive, and Mr Soman was also considered as the CPI candidate for Peerumedu in the assembly elections.
