Ponnala jibes at KCR over his wealth

HYDERABAD: With rumours afloat that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was hopeful of taking the centre stage in national politics by donning the role of chairman of a front of Opposition parties and funding it, former Congress minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah wondered how he was able to generate so much wealth.

Speaking to media persons in Gandhi Bhavan, Lakshmaiah alleged that Rao was ready to spend “ill-gotten money” for securing his political future. “It is being said that he is ready to spend money if offered a key position as chairman of the Opposition (front). How was he able to generate so much wealth, in contrast to what he had prior to 2014,” Lakshmaiah asked.

While referring to allegations of corruption made by BJP leaders time and again, Lakshmaiah felt that the time had come for Rao to face the CBI and the ED. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah on several occasions described KCR as the most corrupt. Why isn't action not being taken,” Lakshmaiah asked.
