Book Sanjay under PD Act, disqualify him from LS, says BRS

Hyderabad: The BRS on Wednesday demanded that the state government book a case against BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar under the PD Act (Preventive Detention Act) for his alleged involvement in the SSC question papers leak. The party demanded that Lok Sabha Speaker disqualify Sanjay Kumar alleging that he was caught red-handed by the police in the SSC paper leakage case in Warangal.

The BRS held state-wide agitation programmes on Wednesday against leakage of question papers and burnt effigies of the BJP as well as Sanjay Kumar. Ministers, party MLAs, and MLCs took part in agitation programmes accusing BJP of playing with the lives of students “for their selfish political interests”.

BRS working president and minister K.T.Rama Rao tweeted in Telugu, which says, "If there is a stone in the hands of a mad person, it is a threat only to passersby on roads. But, if there is a political party in the hands of a mad person, it is a threat to democracy. BJP leaders are playing with the lives of innocent students and unemployed for their selfish political interests."

Speaking to media in Siddipet, finance minister T. Harish Rao said that Sanjay was the prime conspirator in both incidents of the SSC paper leakages in Tandur as well as in Warangal. While Prasanth involved in the Warangal case was a BJP party worker, the teacher involved in the Tanduru incident was a member of a BJP-affiliated teachers’ organisation, he alleged.

Rythu Bandhu Samithi chairman and MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy demanded that the state government book a case against Sanjay under the PD Act. It was under the direction of Sanjay that the Warangal question paper issue accused Prashanth had shared the SSC Hindi question paper on WhatsApp groups, he alleged "Sanjay is trying to derive political mileage by putting the future of lakhs of students at stake. He should be booked under the PD Act," Palla said, while appealing to the students as well as parents not to fall prey to such “cheap tactics of the BJP”.

BRS MLA Balka Suman said BJP leaders were deliberately indulging in mudslinging to defame the ruling government. "Be it the TSPSC question paper leak issue or the SSC question paper leak, BJP workers were involved in such crimes. All this was being done with an eye on the next Assembly elections in the state,” he said.
