Former Congress MP Anand Bhaskar shifts to BJP

After switching sides, Mr Bhaskar said he had served the Congress for 25 years but in recent times it had set aside its polices.

Hyderabad: Former Rajya Sabha member Rapolu Anand Bhaskar who resigned from the Congress joined the BJP in the presence of Union minister and BJP AP incharge J.K. Nadda on Thursday.

After switching sides, Mr Bhaskar said he had served the Congress for 25 years but in recent times it had set aside its polices.

He said that the Congress had “forgotten patriotism and nationalism.”

Mr Bhaskar said the Congress had no direction. Under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the NDA government and the BJP were fighting for the country.

The BJP was giving priority to the welfare of backward classes and was working for the uplift of the handloom workers, because of which he had joined the party, he said.
