AIADMK’s alliance with BJP is for a strong centre, says Tamil Nadu CM

The DMK manifesto \"is nothing but a bundle of false and impractical promises to hoodwink the electorates,\" said Mr. Palaniswami.

Tirunelveli: The AIADMK has forged alliance with the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections to ensure a stable and strong Central government that could enhance the living standard of the people and not compromise on safety of the nation, said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Campaigning for AIADMK's candidate Thiru Manoj Pandian in the Tirunelveli Lok Sabha constituency here on Thursday, he said that the DMK president, M K Stalin, instead of campaigning on what he and his party had done for the welfare of the people, has been making false accusations against him and the State government.

"This clearly made the truth known to the electorate that he has nothing positive to speak about his party in the election campaign," said Mr. Palaniswami, adding, that unlike the DMK president, the AIADMK leaders including him have been capitalizing on what the AIADMK government had done for people's welfare.

The DMK manifesto "is nothing but a bundle of false and impractical promises to hoodwink the electorates," said Mr. Palaniswami, who however, added, that the AIADMK has done whatever was promised by the former Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa in the 2011, 2014 and 2016 general elections.

"We will do more in the future," assured Mr. Palaniswami, accusing the DMK and its leader, Stalin of obstructing development and pro-people's initiatives. He also promised the implementation of cash dole of Rs 2,000 to all the families below poverty line in Tamil Nadu after the elections are over.

Listing the various developmental projects sanctioned for Tirunelveli city corporation, he said under the smart city scheme, the outlay was Rs 807 crore.
