DMK allots 54 seats to allies
Chennai: The DMK has allocated a total of 54 seats to allies including the Congress and other minor outfits. Before, signing the deal with Congress for 41 seats, the DMK has allocated five each to the Muslim outfits Indian Union Muslim League and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi.
Besides, one seat had been given to Perunthalaivar Makkal Katchi, Vivasaya Thozhilalar Katchi and Samooga Samathuva Padai Katchi headed by former IAS officer Sivakami. The three parties will contest in the DMK’s ‘rising sun’ symbol. The SDPI, another Muslim outfit which held negotiations with DMK leaders and pressed for more seats did not return to the negotiations again.
Stalin had informed the DMK would hold talks with Puthiya Thamizhagam headed by Dr Krishnasamy.
But, no talks were held so far. If no more parties join the alliance, the DMK would be contesting in 180 seats after 15 years.
