Kakinada: Kakinada Rural MLA Pilli Anantha Lakshmi is getting ready to launch poll campaign from March 8 with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu giving her an assurance that she will be re-nominated as the party candidate in the coming elections at his recent review meeting.
Ms Anantha Lakshmi worked as MLA from 1999 till 2004 and again she got the ticket for the 2014 elections and elected as MLA for Kakinada Rural Assembly segment defeating the independent candidate Kurasala Kannababu. YSRC candidate Ch. Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna was in the third place.
For the 2014 election campaign, Ms Anantha Lakshmi's husband Pilli Satyanarayana Murthy, Telugu Desam district general secretary, commented on the issue saying, "If you vote for my wife, she will be in the Assembly and I will be available in constituency."
After Ms Anantha Lakshmi's win, her husband is seen to be using the MLA and all work in the constituency has been pursued by him. Over the five years, nearly Rs 2,000 crore development activity has been undertaken in the constituency, according to Mr Satyanarayana Murthy. The MLA completed some of the major projects like water projects Karapa-Velangi at a cost of Rs 14 crore, Turangi at Rs.6 crore, five lift irrigation schemes at Rs 6 crore, two new buildings for primary health centers at Karapa and Velangi at Rs 3 crore, bridges across canals at a cost of Rs 50 crore and provision of roads and drainage to every village.
