KCR govt to splurge Rs 1.1 lakh crore to make Telangana No. 1 state

KCR promised to extend Kalyana Lakshmi scheme providing Rs 51,000 to poor couples from SC to poor from upper castes.

Hyderabad: Promising to make Telangana the No. 1 state in the country with the cooperation of the people, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday said his government would spend Rs 1.10 lakh crore on welfare and development during financial year 2016-2017.

He announced a bus yatra across the state after Budget session of the Assembly, nominated posts for market committees and temple committees, review of GO 111 which imposes restrictions on constructions around drinking water bodies — Himayathsagar and Osmansagar — on the city outskirts and exclude villages which don’t need to come under its purview.

Mr Rao also promised to extend Kalyana Lakshmi scheme providing Rs 51,000 to poor married couples from SC to BCs to poor from other upper castes if they have ration cards.

The CM, speaking at a public function at Myladevarapalli in Rajendranagar Assembly constituency to welcome TD MLA Prakash Goud into the TRS fold, said, “I fought for Telangana since I knew our funds and resources were being diverted to Seemandhra over the years. An independent Telangana state could develop faster. The Kiran Kumar Reddy government presented a Rs 59,000 crore Budget, but Telangana, which contributed Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 35,000 crore to the treasury, got Rs 9,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore. Today, I promise you I will spend Rs 1.10 lakh crore this financial year.”

“I want to see Bangaru Telangana. To achieve this, I invited MLAs and leaders from all political parties to join the TRS. There is no other motive in my invitation. Nothing is impossible if we are united so let us work together for reconstruction of Telangana,” he said.

Mr Rao said that people made fun of him when he launched the Telangana movement, but due to the commitment and support from all sections of the society, he could achieve the goal.“Let us maintain the Ganga-Jamuni tahzeeb of Hyderabad between Hindus and Muslims,” Mr Rao said, to enthusiastic cheers.
