Release your share of funds for RRR, Kishan urges CM

HYDERABAD: Union minister for tourism G. Kishan Reddy said that the state government should release its share for construction of greenfield expressway (regional ring road) in Hyderabad.

As part of Bharatmala Pariyojana scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sanctioned `26,000 crore for its 350 km stretch, he said. As agreed by the Telangana government, 50 percent funds of land acquisition should be deposited in National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), he said in a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday while reminding him of the NH Act, 1956 Gazette Notification issued for RRR.

The BRS government earmarked `500 crore for it in the last budget but did not release any funds, despite numerous reminders from NHAI, he said.

Reddy said that RRR will help regulate vehicular traffic in Hyderabad and also be useful for other districts. On its completion, new townships, industrial zones, IT firms, tourism centres, malls and parking complexes will come up, he said. Generation of employment and faster growth are possible with the RRR, the minister said.
