Karnataka: BJP to raise rift in coalition, cashgate at budget session
Bengaluru: The budget session of the state legislature promises to be stormy with the BJP gearing up to take on the state government over the squabbling between the coalition partners, corruption allegations against Minister Puttarangashetty, alleged collapse of law and order and its “ineffective” governance.
The party’s state president, B.S.Yeddyurappa has called a BJP legislature party meeting on Tuesday to discuss its floor strategy. It will be preceded by its core committee meeting.
Opposition leader in the Legislative Council, Kota Srinivasa Poojari told Deccan Chronicle, “We will raise the corrupt deeds of Minister Puttarangashetty and demand for his resignation soon after the Governor’s address to the joint session. There is no government in the state and ministers are lying. We will not allow the House to conduct business until the resignation of Mr Puttarangashetty.”
Meanwhile, some BJP leaders claim there is a big question mark over CM H.D. Kumaraswamy being able to present the budget as the government could collapse any time.
But they are unwilling to reveal their plan of action during the session, which could lead to the downfall of the coalition government. Some leaders say the party has authorised Mr Yeddyurappa to take a decision in the matter and act accordingly.
