NIA to probe attack on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy
Hyderabad: In a significant development in the case of the attempted murder of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy last year, the Union home ministry on Friday informed the AP High Court that the case was entrusted to the NIA for investigation.
Assistant solicitor general K. Lakshman, appearing before a division bench of Justice S.V. Bhatt and Justice K. Vijay Lakshmi, submitted an order passed by the Union home ministry directing the NIA to investigate the knife attack on Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy in October 2018.
The bench was hearing a petition by YSR Congress MLA A. Ramakrishna Reddy, seeking to direct the Centre to handover the investigation of the case to the NIA.
The Union home ministry on December 31, 2018 directed the NIA to take up the case and accordingly the NIA unit in Hyderabad issued an FIR on January 1, 2019.
