Oust FM Thomas Isaac for financial mess: MM Hassan

He said even during former chief minister E. K. Nayanar's tenure the state had not experienced such a severe economic crunch.

Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president M. M. Hassan has asked chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to expel finance minister Thomas Isaac for messing up the state finances.

He said even during former chief minister E. K. Nayanar’s tenure the state had not experienced such a severe economic crunch.

As a mark of protest against, the Thiruvananthapuram DCC has decided to hold a dharna in front of the Secretariat on Jan. 9. On the same day and the following day, other districts will conduct demonstrations. “It was his indiscipline which landed the state in shambles. Mr Isaac should explain how the treasury became empty. Congress is keen to know whether the CM”s financial advisor (Gita Gopinath) had given him any advice," he said

On the raging controversy on his attendance at Markaz meet, he said the Congress party had not decided to boycott it, and none had asked him to stay away. He maintained that there were no discussions anywhere in party forums.
He said the organisers had invited party leaders where everyone has got the freedom to attend.

“The UDF had also decided not to boycott the meet,” Mr Hassan told a press meet at Indira Bhavan here on Thursday.

He also maintained that the controversy over comments against the triple talaq legislation which was against the AICC leadership's stand was unwarranted. He alleged that the media distorted his speech made at the rival Mujahid Conference in Malappuram. He had said that the Bill the Lok Sabha passed last week to ban triple talaq, which is now before the Rajya Sabha, is an invasion of Islamic Sharia.
