Mangaluru/Bengaluru: Bajrang Dal activist Deepak Rao was cremated amid heightened tension in the coastal district and a high-decibel war of words between top leaders of the ruling Congress, and Opposition BJP, on Thursday.
Scores of activists of saffron outfits, led by BJP Backward Class Morcha state secretary Sathyajit Surathkal and Bajrang Dal's state convener Sharan Pumpwell, stopped the ambulance carrying Rao's body near Surathkal for two hours demanding an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakhs, and permission to take the body in a procession.
