Rahul Gandhi: TRS leaves each family in Rs 2.5 lakh debt

Terming Mr Rao as Khao Commission Rao, Mr Gandhi alleged he had swindled several crores through commissions by restructuring projects.

Hyderabad: Congress president Rahul Gandhi and TD supremo and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu focused their attack on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during their road shows in Jubilee Hills, Sanathnagar, Kukatpally and Malakpet constituencies on Monday.

Terming Mr Rao as Khao Commission Rao, Mr Gandhi alleged he had swindled several crores through commissions by restructuring projects.
He alleged that the cost of irrigation projects had increased Rs 10,000 crore to Rs 40,000 crore and from Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 90,000 crore.

Mr Gandhi said the four-year TRS rule had left every family facing a debt of Rs 2.5 lakh while Mr Rao’s K.T. Rama Rao’s assets had increased by 400 per cent. He praised Mr Naidu for keeping Hyderabad on the world stage.

“Where has development in Hyderabad gone?” he asked. He said Mr Rao should answer the youth about the lack of development and lost employment opportunities. He said that the TRS had neglected youth who had toiled and shed blood for statehood.

Alleging a secret alliance, he said the TRS had supported the BJP while Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies “damaged” the nation, “Modi has been operating KCR through a remote control from the Centre. Modi has been operating corrupt KCR through CBI, ED. KCR will not dare go against PM’s instructions due to his corrupt activities,” he added.

Mr Naidu said Mr Rao had only managed to construct a farmhouse in four-and-a-half years and nothing else. He said the Congress and TD, rivals for 37 years, had came together for welfare of people.

He said despite favourable conditions, the TRS had neglected Hyderabad’s development. “KCR could not even a complete single project in a revenue surplus state.”

Accusing the Centre of harassing political rivals through agencies like the CBI and the income-tax department, Mr Naidu said he joined hands with Mr Gandhi to work in the national interest.
