Odisha leaders add colour and flavour to election spectrum in Chhattisgarh

People will elect BJP to power to corruption-free governance: Dharmendra

BHUBANESWAR: Adding colour and flavour to the election landscape in Chhattisgarh, political leaders from Odisha have joined the campaign trail in the neighbouring state for their respective parties.

Leaders from National parties like Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are campaigning in Chhattisgarh to ensure the win of their respective candidates.

Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan and party’s Kalahandi Lok Sabha member Basant Panda are among the top BJP leaders who are busy in canvassing for their candidates.

“BJP is the only party which has succeeded in putting Bharat in the league of powerful nations. I am sure we will win here with the great love the people of Chhattisgarh have for our party. Since the present government is neck-deep involved in corruption, people would shower blessings on us,” said minister Pradhan.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak, party’s senior leader Bhakta Charan Das and Koraput Lok Sabha member Saptagiri Ulaka are seen addressing multiple public meetings; urging people to reelect the Bhupesh Bhagel government.

“People of Chhattisgarh have seen the development of farmers, different caste groups and youths under the Bhupesh Baghel government. Peace has returned to the state. Social equality and security have been established. The Naxal problem has almost subsided. Hence, We are pretty sure that the Baghel government would return to power with a clear and massive mandate,” said OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak.

Odisha Women Congress general secretary, Gitanjali Panigrahi said, “The political environment in Chhattisgarh is pro-Congress. People here want Congress to win as women can truly be empowered if we come to power. I am hopeful that we will win here with a huge margin.”

Chhattisgarh will go to the assembly polls in two phases on November 7 and 17, and the counting of votes will be on December 3.

Voters in 20 assembly constituencies will exercise their franchise in the first phase polls on November 7. The remaining 70 seats will go to the polls on November 17.
