Jagan Government Approves Survey of All Castes in AP

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday approved a survey for collecting comprehensive caste-based data relating to social, educational, economic, livelihood, and demographic aspects of all sections and categories of people in the state.

“This would help the state government better formulate and implement schemes for various sections of the society,” information minister Ch. Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna told media persons at the end of the Cabinet meeting.

“The Chief Minister is of the opinion that the caste-based survey will help alleviate lives of oppressed classes and enable their social empowerment to the next levels,” Venugopala Krishna underlined.

Further, the Cabinet ratified a proposal of the finance department to sanction a dearness allowance of 3.64 per cent to employees, pensioners, and family pensioners of the state government with effect from 01-07-2022. It approved the Local Cadre and Direct Recruitment Draft 2023, under which 95 per cent of appointments will be reserved for locals.

The other ratification of the Cabinet is the State Investment Promotion Board’s approval for fresh investment worth Rs19,037 crores for providing employment opportunities to 69,656 persons. Implementation of a new land allotment policy for setting up industries. Allotment of 5,400 acres of land to Ecoren Energy India Limited for setting up 902 MW solar energy plants in Nandyal and YSR districts.

Allotment of two acres of land to MRK Group for establishing hotels in Tirupati district. Setting up of an 800 MW wind energy plant and allotment of 100 acres of land for establishing the National Law University in Kurnool district.

The Cabinet appreciated the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha programme under which 11,700 camps had been organised, 8.72 lakh eye tests conducted, with nearly 11,300 persons undergoing eye surgeries and more than 5.22 lakh persons being given eyeglasses.

The Cabinet permitted APIIC to transfer 1,200 acres of land at Pudimadaka in the Anakapalli district for setting up a thermal power plant and a green hydrogen zone. It agreed to provide a huge concession on payment of electricity duty by the ferroalloys industry, which employs nearly 50,000 persons.

The Cabinet accorded permission to appoint experts to train students in future skills in 6,790 government high schools with support and guidance from nearby engineering colleges. It approved filling up 3,200 vacancies of teaching and non-teaching staff in universities and IIITs, along with filling up Group-1 and Group-11 vacancies in various departments.

The Cabinet approved a proposal to set up a dialysis research centre and super speciality hospital at Markapuram. It would fill up 21 posts in the nephrology department of the Markapuram Medical College.

The Cabinet approved a proposal to provide a Group-1 job to table tennis player Saket Myneni. It also okayed a proposal to allot house sites of three cents each to working journalists in the state.
