Housing main worry of poor, says Asaduddin Owaisi
Hyderabad: MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said one of the major problems of the poor was the lack of housing. He was speaking after hearing women women from the Charminar constituency state their problems at a meeting in Gauhar Gulshan Function Hall, Moghalpura.
Mr Owaisi said, “I can understand in the problem of the poor who have to pay exorbitant rents. On the representation of the MIM, work of the 2BHK scheme was started at seven-eight places in the Old City. After they are completed, all eligible poor families will get houses.”
He said another major problem of the poor was healthcare. “On our representation, the government has established mohalla clinics at few places in the Old City. We will ensure more such clinics are set up so that people can avail free consultations with doctors and free medicines.”
On complaints from some women that they were not getting widow pensions, the MIM supremo said that after the elections he would call a meeting with the MRO for the purpose.
Petitions for sewing machines would be cleared after the elections. He said sewing machines could not be disbursed as the elections were announced.
He said that along with Muslims, members of other communities were also eligible for scholarships and anyone facing problems could call the MIM for help.
“Our party works for all communities,” he said and appealed to Hindu women to approach the party headquarters.
“Darussalam has no doors, it is open for all. All MLAs and corporators sit there six days a week. You can even calll us by phone. We are ready to work for all without discrimination,” he said.
Most women complained about not getting ration cards.
