RGV praises Jagan for action against ex-minister in Roja threat row

Vijayawada: Film director Ram Gopal Varma on Tuesday praised Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for initiating stern action against TD ex-minister Bandaru Satyanarayana by arresting him for making vulgar comments about tourism minister R.K. Roja.

In an open letter posted on X, Varma said: “We the citizens deeply appreciate the stern action taken by your government on the disgraced ex-minister Bandaru Satyanarayan for his vulgar comments on the minister for tourism Roja Selvamani. We hope your government will also extend the same stringent action, irrespective of which party they belong to, on only politician making violent threats.”

Referring to alleged life threats and threats to outrage the minister’s modesty made by Satyanarayana, Varma questioned how such influential persons can serve as role models and called for court action, claiming that otherwise, such incidents may become commonplace.

The director requested the Chief Minister to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards individuals issuing such threats.

Satyanarayana was arrested by the Guntur police at his Vennelapalem residence in Anakapalli district after an 18-hour stand-off, on Monday. He was arrested on charges of making disrespectful comments against the Chief Minister and minister Roja.
