Minister says curses of poor landed Naidu into jail

Kakinada: Housing minister Jogi Ramesh feels that curses of poor people in Samalkot in Kakinada district have landed TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu into jail.

The minister spoke to reporters after inspecting houses being constructed in the Jagananna Housing Colony in Samalkot on Tuesday. AP Housing Corporation chairman Dovuluri Dorababu, corporation managing director G. Lakshmisha and Kakinada district collector Kritika Shukla accompanied the minister.

Jogi Ramesh said when Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the proposal to construct houses for the poor in Samalkot, Telugu Desam leaders led by Chandrababu Naidu created many legal hurdles in implementation of the project. This led to many of the poor cursing the TD leaders. However, the CM has ensured that the houses are constructed after clearing of the legal hurdles.

The minister underlined that 17,005 Jagananna housing colonies are being constructed throughout the state. The colonies will contain 21.75 lakh houses, of which 6.82 lakh houses have been completed so far. Major housewarming ceremonies will be held when beneficiaries enter these houses during Dasara, Christmas, Sankranti, Ramzan and other festivals.

At Samalkot, out of 2,400 houses, 1,000 houses have been completed in ETC layout, where all infrastructure facilities have been created.

He took a dig at Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for calling YSRC a dreaded virus, which needed vaccination. Ramesh said Pawan Kalyan has already administered the vaccine to Chandrababu Naidu, because of which the latter landed in central jail.

Housing corporation project director B. Sudhakar Patnaik, DWMA project director Adapa Venkata Lakshmi and DRDA project director K. Sriramani were also present.
