DMK general secretary Duraimurugan regrets his flippancy

The DMK general secretary said he might have been heard in a wrong way because he was wearing a facemask

DMK general secretary Duraimurugan expressed regret over his alleged flippancy in addressing leaders of the alliance parties and said that he had changed his style of speech and also functioning after taking over as party general secretary.

In a statement on Saturday, he said to a question from media persons as to who would be with the DMK in the next elections he had replied that some may come from there and some may go from here and it cannot be stated for sure now.

This was reported in the media with the accusation that he addressed the alliance party leaders disrespectfully, Duraimurugan said, adding that he might have been heard in a wrong way because he was wearing a facemask.

He said the parties had shifted alliances even in the last minute in the past and that was what he meant when he spoke to the media after attending the ‘People’s sabai’ meeting on October 2.

Expressing regret over some alliance party leaders being distraught over his alleged disrespectfulness, Duraimurugan clarified that he did not mean anything demeaning of anybody. ‘If it had happened I express my regret for that and assure you that it would not happen again,’ he said.

He had great respect for all and those who knew him well know that and would have taken his remarks in the right spirit, he added.
