Performance is at stake in Pala: LDF
Thiruvananthapuram: LDF leadership is all set to make the achievements of Pinarayi Vijayan government as main poll plank during the forthcoming Pala by-elections scheduled to be held on September 23.
By focusing on the achievements of the government, the LDF wants to run a positive campaign and counter the opposition move to divert people’s attention from the development agenda. “We are confident of securing a clear people's mandate by showcasing our government's achievements,” said CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
The Chief Minister had earlier stated that they were not reluctant to discuss the performance of the government. “The CM has already made it clear that the government has nothing to fear. The voters can evaluate our performance. This statement itself speaks about the government’s confidence,” the CPM leader said.
Apart from government’s performance, the political situation in the state and the country would also be discussed during the poll campaign.
Veteran NCP leader T P Peethambaran Master said there was nothing wrong in saying that the Pala bypoll was a referendum on the state government’s performance. The government has implemented many pro people programmes and policies, he said.
