CBI is hunting for cause to frame charges against PC: K S Alagiri
CHENNAI: TNCC chief K. S. Alagiri continued his rant against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) saying the premier investigating agency in the country has for the first time arrested former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and is now hunting for reasons to frame charges against him.
“This is the first came in which the CBI arrests a leader and then searches for cause to frame him. So far the CBI has not proved any charges against Chidambaram, because he is not guilty (in the money laundering case),” Mr. Alagiri said on Tuesday.
The CBI took Chidambaram into its custody five days ago, after issuing a look out notice, immediately after the Congress senior made a dramatic appearance at his party office in New Delhi and denied the charges.
To a question on the Centre appointing BJP leader Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan as governor of Telangana, Mr. Alagiri told reporters here that she belonged to Congress family. “She is the daughter of Kumari Anandan (former TNCC chief),” he said and wished her well in her new role.
