Sops for Huzurabad: Opposition seeks resignation of more TRS MLAs

The minister for transport should resign and facilitate a by-election in Khammam so that the minorities here too will be benefited

KHAMMAM: The TRS government decision to implement the Dalit Bandu scheme in Huzurabad assembly constituency, where assembly by-election is to be held shortly, has come as an embarrassment to ruling party legislators in Sattupalli, Khammam and Yellandu.

Opposition parties are asking TRS legislators to resign and pave a way for fresh elections in these constituencies too, if only to enable people in these areas too to get the benefits of the scheme.

Congress and BJYM leaders have asked the ruling party MLAs to resign from their posts. The leaders assured these MLAs that the people will elect them again, as the TRS government would implement this and other schemes in these constituencies as it did in Huzurabad now.

Congress working president for Khammam town committee, Mahammad Javed, said the two-year rule of the TRS will not help the minorities and dalits in Khammam. “We hope that a by-election will bring schemes like Dalit Bandu to Khammam. There is also a scope for implementation of 12 per cent reservation to the minorities, which was announced by chief minister Chandrashekar Rao four years back.

The Khammam segment has a good number of minority voters. “The minister for transport should resign and facilitate a by-election in Khammam so that the minorities here too will be benefited," it is proposed.

The Opposition leaders are not only posting their demands on WhatsApp groups but also making the demand at their press conferences too. Potru Kalyan, BJYM Khammam parliament in-charge, said a majority of voters in Sattupalli assembly constituency are dalits. They will be benefited if TRS MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah resigned and facilitated a bypolls, he said.

“The MLA need not worry. Dalits and others will definitely vote for the TRS in the (proposed) by-election,” he added.

Gundeboina Nagamani, Congress women committee in-charge of Yellandu assembly segment, said there was no development in the segment for the past two years. The TRS government is announcing several welfare and development schemes in the assembly segments that are going for by-elections. “That is the way it woos votes. Yellandu MLA Haripriya should resign the post for the sake of the people in the constituency to enable the area get new government projects,” she added.
