Congress slams Jagan Mohan Reddy for halting dam works

Government in the state has been changing every five years and the administration is unable to complete execution of the projects.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Pradesh Congress committee vice president N. Tulasi Reddy slammed Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for stalling the execution of multi-purpose Polavaram irrigation project which was initiated by the Chief Minister’s late father and former CM Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and demanded the Centre to take up the project and complete it expeditiously for the benefit of people in the state.

The senior Congress leader told newspersons here on Saturday that the government in the state has been changing every five years and the administration is unable to complete execution of the projects.

Referring to Section 90 of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, the Congress leader felt the need on the part of the Centre to take up execution of the project and provide relief to people affected by the project.

The Congress leader, while demanding the Centre to reimburse Rs 4,554 crore to the state government, asked the authorities to give approval for revised cost estimates of the project to the tune of Rs 55,549 crore by the Centre.

He flayed the previous governments for taking up execution of the project to get huge amount of commission from the contractors and also BJP led NDA regime for handing over the project to the state government without executing it.
