Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy quits council seat before joining YSRC
Nandyal/Hyderabad: Bowing to the diktat of YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy, who had joined the party from the Telugu Desam, on Thursday submitted his resignation from the membership in the AP Legislative Council.
Mr Chakrapani Reddy, younger brother of Nandyal YSRC candidate Shilpa Mohan Reddy, sent his resignation letter to the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the AP Legislative Council minutes before he shared the dais with Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy in Nandyal.
Earlier in the day, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy had refused entry to Mr Chakrapani Reddy to the party if he failed to quit the MLC seat.
A top source in the YSRC said, “Jagan told him not to come on to the stage as an MLC. He said his party has been demanding its legislators, who had defected to the TD, to resign from their membership from the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. Jagan wants to apply the same yardstick to those joining the YSRC on ethical grounds.” Initially Mr Chakrapani Reddy tried to convince Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy to allow him, but in vain.
Meanwhile, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy told at the public meet that his party would be eligible to nominate one person as MLC in 2018 and that would be given to a Muslim candidate from Nandyal.
Mr Chakrapani Reddy said that the game had just begun. He wanted people to put a stop to the drama played by the Bhuma family in Nandyal.
He also cautioned them that the Vysya community in Nandyal was very intelligent and they would teach a lesson to the Bhuma family. He said he was in the MLC seat only for around 90 days.
He challenged tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya to come clean on her allegations on their family and suggested she concentrate on the Allagadda constituency.
“People at her home town Allagadda are crying for development. Why can’t she develop Allagadda,” he asked.
