Karnataka: Former minister Shivaram's son-in-law too raided

The raids, which began Wednesday morning, continued on Thursday and could extend to Friday, according to sources.

Hassan: Income Tax sleuths followed up their raids on Energy Minister, D K Shivakumar’s home and business establishments, with raids on the house of Mr Sachin Narayan, the son-in-law of former Minister and Congress leader, B Shivaram on Wednesday and Thursday for his reported business links with Mr Shivakumar.

According to unconfirmed reports, the I-T officials first made sure Mr Sachin Narayan was at his house on B.M. road in Hassan before entering it on the pretext of asking for a donation and then began to verify documents relating to his properties.

Mr Sachin Narayan is said to have business links with Mr Shivakumar and owns the SBG Group, which runs a theatre, bar and restaurants, hotels and a distillery among other businesses. The I-T officials are said to have studied documents relating to the properties and questioned the family members.

The team is also said to have looked into property documents taken from the Karur Vysya Bank in Hassan.

The raids, which began Wednesday morning, continued on Thursday and could extend to Friday, according to sources.

While the police provided security around Mr Sachin Narayan’s house, angry Congress workers took to the roads in protest against the I-T searches, calling them politically motivated.
