Win or else, Amit Shah to Kerala BJP leaders
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP national president Amit Shah has given an ultimatum to the state leadership to show results in the Assembly and Parliament elections and said ‘enough was enough.’ At the office-bearers meeting held here on Saturday, he urged them to follow the example of states where the BJP had won. Mr Amit Shah and his team of central party leadership led by national organising general secretary Ramlal felt that the state party led by Mr Kummanam Rajasekharan was not working with any proper planning. There was lack of discussion in the party and it had no social base. The leaders could not present a detailed project report at the meeting of the parliamentary constituency in-charge where the four general secretaries and former state presidents were entrusted with areas other than their home districts.
Mr Amit Shah stressed the need to strengthen the booth committees and asked them to study the condition of the dalits and backward communities. A meeting with special invitees at Trivandrum Club at Vazhuthacaud was attended by former additional chief secretary D. Babu Paul, former diplomat T. P. Sreenivasan, former chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation G. Madhavan Nair, actor Babu Namboodiri, musician Omanakutty, singer G. Venugopal, Noorul Islam University pro-vice-chancellor M. S. Faizal Khan and others. Mr Amit Shah spoke in Hindi about the Modi government’s initiatives. Former CPI Thiruvan-anthapuram secretary Venjaramoodu Sasi joined the BJP at the programme where Mr Amit Shah welcomed him to the saffron brigade.
During the last Assembly elections, he had resigned from the CPI and joined the RSP. Mr Amit Shah also held closed-door talks with Sangh Parivar leaders like RSS state president P. E. B. Menon, RSS state secretary and Prantha Karyavahak P. Gopalankutty Master, Sahaprantha Sanghachalak K. K. Balram, Bharatiya Vichara Kendram vice-president R. Sanjayan and Prantha Pracharak Harikrishna Kumar. Earlier, Mr Amit Shah paid his respects before the statue of social reformer Ayyankali at Vellayambalam. He was given a rousing reception at the Thiruvanantha-puram airport by scores of two- wheeler riders.
