Chennai: In a sudden turn of event, BJP senior and Union minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan who had supported Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan in flaying the DMK for converting the birthday party of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi into a platform for meeting of opposition parties, greeted the DMK patriarch on Saturday.
Though the BJP’s state nit had not on Saturday reacted to the birthday celebrations, which turned into anti-NDA meeting, Mr Radhakrishnan displaying a profound sense of political maturity extended his greetings to the veteran political leader.
Karunanidhi’s record of not facing defeat in any election since he first contested in 1957 is unprecedented, Radhakrishnan said. “I congratulate him on completing 60 years as a legislator,” Ponnar said. He had even greeted Stalin on his birthday in March.
