CM Oommen Chandy dares VS Achuthanandan on TP Chandrasekharan murder probe
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has alleged of a BJP-CPM nexus behind the reluctance of the Centre in ordering a CBI probe into the conspiracy behind the murder of RMP leader T.P. Chandrasekharan. The Chief Minister wanted Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan to clarify the reasons for his 'somersault' in the demand for probe into the conspiracy in a statement on Tuesday.
Mr. Chandy said the state government was willing to take up the demand for probe into the murder with the Centre again, provided Mr. Achuthanandan also gave a representation. “As we observe the fourth death anniversary of TPC's murder, we need to ensure justice. The state is willing to take up the matter with Centre again. If the Opposition leader also gave a representation in this regard, the state could take up the matter as a state's common interest," said Mr. Chandy.
He recollected that the government initially took up the matter with the Centre in 2014 February considering a representation of Mr. Achuthanandan, too. “Mr. Achuthanandan then cited the links of TPC murder case accused with international smuggling case accused Fayaz, who even had suspected terror links.
Fayaz had called on CPM Kozhikode district secretary P Mohanan and others accused in the TPC murder case at the prison. But Mr Achuthanandan had later changed his stand by stating that he was satisfied with the probe conducted by his party into the matter," Mr. Chandy said.
The Chief Minister also wanted the CPM leadership to clarify why the party did not express regret over the links of party leaders with the murder accused, which was very evident. “Why was the party enquiry report not made public so far,” he asked.
