Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy asks Singareni to allot Rs 1 crore to nearby villages

In Khammam, Nalgonda and other districts, standing crop like paddy, maize and mango were damaged in around 1 lakh acres.

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress Legislature party Deputy Leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, MLC, in a letter to Chief Minister K. Chan-drasekhar Rao said people in about 150 villages in and around Singareni Collieries were facing a lot of health hazards owing to severe air pollution and contaminated drinking and groundwater.

Singareni made Rs 1,200 crore profit in fiscal 2017-18, he said and wanted the authorities to direct the firm to allot Rs 1 crore each for development villages and also providing safe drinking water and proper medical facilities.

Mr Reddy also requested the Chief Minister to constitute a task force to assess the loss to farmers due to untimely rain and immediately provided sufficient relief and financial assistance.
