Thrissur: Both ‘I’ and ‘A’ group leaders of Congress in the district are upset over two candidates close to KPCC president V M Sudheeran getting selected for contesting in Wadakkanchery and Puthukkad constituency by sidelining their nominees.
In Wadakkancherry, the party has zeroed in on Anil Akkara, a well known youth leader of the party in the district who is considered close to Mr Sudheeran and in Puthukkad, VM’s nominee Sundaran Kunnathully, who is presently serving as INTUC district president will be the Congress candidate.
Sources close to prominent ‘I’ group leader C.N. Balakrishnan said that the veteran leader is upset about the high command striking off the names of his nominees K. Ajith Kumar in Wadakkancherry and V. O. Pailappan in Chalakkaudy.
CN had also asked the top Congress leaders no to give ticket to sitting MLA MP Vincent from Ollur, citing that he was not a winnable candidate. But, the party top leadership has seemingly denied such a request as well.
