Hyderabad: The TRS has decided to begin electioneering from March 6, much ahead of other parties. The party has targeted a majority of up to 4 lakh votes in each of the 16 Lok Sabha seats it aims to win.
To this end, party working president K.T. Rama Rao will hold preparatory meetings of cadre and leaders from March 6 to 17 in all 16 Lok Sabha constituencies. In the recent Assembly polls too, the TRS kickstarted its poll campaign much ahead of other political parties.
Sources in the party said that MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is likely to share the dais with the TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and also with Mr Rama Rao.
According to sources in the party , the meetings of the party working president aims to prepare an action plan to prepare the cadre and leaders, right from the booth-level and also prepare the schedule for the election campaign of party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
In fact, the party had earlier decided to begin preparatory meetings in every Lok Sabha constituency from March 1, finish these meetings by March 11 and then launch the Chief Minister’s campaign in the second week of March, in view of the notification of the EC for the election at any time after March 10.
However, the party leadership postponed the meetings in view of the tense conditions along the Indo-Pak border, following the Pulwama terror attack.
The TRS announced that working president K.T. Rama Rao will hold two preparatory meetings a day from March 7 to cover 16 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats where the party will contest. As per the schedule, the working president will participate in the first meeting to be held at SRR College Grounds in Karimnagar on March 7. He will cover 16 constituencies and each meeting will be attended by 15, 000 workers and leaders of the party.
Mr Rama Rao will also make a night halt in a few constituencies and instruct the local leadership on poll strategies.
