Thiruvananthapuram: CPI meet skips talks on Candidates

Thiruvananthapuram district committee is learnt to have suggested Kanam Rajendran, C. Divakaran and G.R. Anil.

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI executive committee met here on Sunday did not discuss the list of Lok Sabha candidates suggested by the district committees. The meeting of the state committee scheduled for Monday is expected to take it up.

Thiruvananthapuram district committee is learnt to have suggested Kanam Rajendran, C. Divakaran and G.R. Anil.

Both Kollam and Alappuzha district committees have recommended candidates of Mavelikara spread across the two districts. Kollam preferred Chittayam Gopakumar, R.S. Anil and Dinesh Babu and Alappuzha, C.N. Arun and deputy speaker V. Sasi.

The Thrissur district committee has put forward the names of sitting MP C.N. Jayadevan, K.P. Rajendran and Rajaji Mathew Thomas.

The Wayanad district committee proposed Sathyan Mokeri, C.N. Chandran and P.P. Suneer. Mean-while, the LDF meeting scheduled to for Friday is likely to finalise the seats.

There are chances that Janata Dal (S) that had contested the last elections from Kottayam will not be given seats this time. This time, it asked for Ernakulam. Loktantr-ik Janata Dal inducted into the LDF recently has also sought a seat.

In 2014, CPM had contested 15 seats, CPI four and JD (S) one.
