Leaders continue to desert TD; Raju joins YSRC
Vijayawada: In a jolt to the Telugu Desam, the party’s probable candidate for Narasapur Lok Sabha Constituency in West Godavari district and a prominent industrialist, G. Raghurama Krishnam Raju, joined the YSR Congress in the presence of party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday. Mr Jagan Mohan is likely to field him from Narasapur Constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
After joining the YSRC, Mr Raju said that only Mr Jagan Mohan was capable of forcing the Centre to fulfil the promises made during the bifurcation of the state. He said he wished that Mr Jagan Mohan became the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He added that joining the YSRC was like home coming and he would work for the overall development of the state.
Since 2014 election, Mr Raju, known as a crusader for the traditional sport of cockfights, has changed two parties - the BJP and the Telugu Desam - and now he has joined the YSR Congress in his bid to contest from the Naraspuram Lok Sabha constituency.
