M Thambidurai: Hope people won't get cheated by trailer' budget
CHENNAI: Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha M. Thambidurai has ridiculed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘trailer’ budget remark and said that he hoped the people will not feel cheated by the ‘trailer’ as the movie could be different from the trailer.
“None, I hope, will believe this trailer and get cheated because trailer could be different from the full movie. It would be good if both are same. But it’s questionable if both would be the same,” Thambidurai told reporters after participating in the event marking the 50th death anniversary of Dravidian veteran and former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai in Dindigul in the State on Sunday.
After Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal presented the interim budget on February 1, in the Parliament, Modi had said, “This is just a trailer since it is the interim budget. The full budget after the Lok Sabha polls will pave the way for a new India.”
The AIADMK senior who has been highly critical of the BJP-led government at the Centre, pointed out that the Central government was yet to disburse Rs 20,000 crore towards the Cyclone Gaja relief and rehabilitation besides the sum for GST. The central government, he said had not supported the State on various issues and as a result the State had to suffer.
To a question, Thambidurai replied “as our Chief Minister (Edappadi K. Palaniswami) had already stated, the AIADMK will be electoral alliance only with those who do good to Tamil Nadu.”
