Clear picture on alliance will emerge soon: D Jayakumar
CHENNAI: The AIADMK may have taked off late on forging ties but the party will finish first in the race, State Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar said while maintaining that a clear picture on an alliance will emerge in a few days.
The party has already formed several committees for holding talks with like-minded parties, prepare the election manifesto and a campaign committee to evolve the campaign schedule of leaders. All these committees have commenced their work.
“From tomorrow (February 4) we will commence the process of receiving applications from our party aspirants. As far as alliance is concerned, as our Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has already stated, we will have alliance with parties that do good to the people of Tamil Nadu. A clear picture on alliance will emerge once the election schedule is announced,” Jayakumar said.
The AIADMK senior told reporters here on Sunday that with the changing political dynamics, compel the parties to invariably decide either to contest alone or join hands with like-minded parties. “This is common. And we can say with firmness that we had contested alone in the past. But the DMK seems to ride on two horses. We will have alliance only with the parties that accept our leadership,” he said and accused the DMK of indulging in “opportunistic politics.”
Asked if he too favoured the 25-year-old tusker Chinnathambi to be trained as Kumki, Jayakumar laughed and sarcastically remarked “I have something interesting to tell you. There are two Chinnathambis in Tamil Nadu politics - DMK president M.K. Stalin and AMMK leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran. Both are not needed for the nation. They can be in forest. This Chinnathambi Dhinakaran can be happy with the money he has swindled and another Chinnathambi can be contented with the party that his father had bequeathed instead of aspiring to be Chief Minister.”
