Revanth Urges Party to Strive for Clean Sweep in LS Polls

TPCC adopts resolution urging Sonia Gandhi to contest from state

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister and TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday instructed Congress leaders and workers to work on ‘mission mode’ to make a clean sweep of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana in the upcoming elections.

He said that the recent victory of Congress in Telangana Assembly polls was due to the hard work of the party leaders and workers, calling upon them to exhibit a more vigorous fighting spirit to meet ‘Target 17’.

He asked party leaders and workers to ensure that the party wins no fewer than 12 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, while introducing a resolution urging Sonia Gandhi to contest from Telangana in Lok Sabha polls, which was adopted unanimously.

Revanth Reddy was addressing the TPCC extended meeting in Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, which was attended by all the ministers and senior leaders. The meeting was convened to chalk out strategies to win Lok Sabha polls.

“There are a total of 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. We can win all these 17 seats provided all the leaders and workers exhibit fighting spirit and work committedly for the next 100 days,” he said.

Revanth Reddy lashed out at the BRS for publishing books on the Congress for not fulfilling the promises made during the recent Assembly polls.

“It's not even a month since the Congress government was formed in Telangana. BRS is publishing books stating that Congress has not fulfilled poll promises. This proves that they have not learnt any lesson even after people of Telangana rejected BRS in Assembly polls. I appeal to party leaders and workers to counter the false propaganda of BRS against Congress effectively,” he said.

He promised to accommodate leaders, who work sincerely and committedly for the party’s win in Lok Sabha polls, in nominated posts.

Revanth Reddy said he will hold review meetings with leaders of five combined districts on January 8 and the remaining five combined districts on January 9 for the Lok Sabha polls. He announced to hold meetings with incharges of 17 Lok Sabha constituencies from January 10 to 12.

Revanth Reddy also slammed Union minister and BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy for his criticism of Congress on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.

“It seems Kishan Reddy's income has come down. That's why he is demanding CBI probe into Kaleshwaram project. When I demanded CBI probe into Kaleshwaram when the Medigadda pillars sank, Kishan Reddy remained silent,” Revanth Reddy said.

He reiterated that the Congress government will initiate a judicial inquiry into the Kaleshwaram project, accusing the BRS and BJP of being “joint thieves” in looting public money under the guise of KLIS and doing injustice to the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.
