Internal bickerings aplenty in Anantapur TD

In the Dharmavaram Assembly constituency, former MLA G. Suryanarayana shifted to the BJP soon after YSRC was voted to power

ANANTAPUR: Even after the intervention of party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, the divide between cadres in most segments in Anantapur district is widening. The TD is known to have a stronger base in Anantapur than in other districts.

As it is, senior leader and former MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy’s group has differences with Anantapur Urban incharge V. Prabhakar Chowdary in the Anantapur Lok Sabha constituency. Then, TD politburo member and Anantapur LS seat convener Kalava Sreenivasulu was dragged into the dispute by J.C. Prabhakar Reddy during a regional level party meeting and the high command was reportedly unable to pacify the two sides.

In the Dharmavaram Assembly constituency, former MLA G. Suryanarayana shifted to the BJP soon after YSRC was voted to power. Before that, he had differences with the group of slain MLA Paritala Ravindra, his wife Sunita and her son Sriram which affected the party at various levels.

Sriram, who got defeated from Raptadu, is the TD incharge of Dharmavaram Assembly segment and his mother Sunitha of Rapthadu segment. They expect to contest from the respective constituencies.

But, Suryanarayana is trying to return to the Telugu Desam with the help of the anti-Paritala group. Suryanarayana is said to be eyeing a nomination in the next election, but Sriram was not willing to invite him into the party.

At the Madakasira Assembly segment, former MLA Eeranna is being resisted by former MLC Gundumala Thippeswamy who is mounting pressure on the high command to choose another candidate. During a recent party meeting, however, Naidu was positive towards Eeranna’s candidature from the segment that is reserved for the SC community.

Speculation is rife over entry of former Amruth Veer, daughter of former APCC chief N. Raghuveera Reddy, into the TD with a planning to contest from Kalyandurg, where a group of TD leaders is opposing the move.
