Kerala BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan seeks CBI probe into land grabs

Mr Rajasekaran said the two were trying to protect the Eucalyptus mafia which is making crores of rupees.

Kottayam: BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan wants the Central Bureau of Investigation( CBI) to investigate the land grabs preventing the arrival of the Kurinji sanctuary at Vattavada.

After the visit of an NDA delegation to the 58th block of land where encroachments were rampant on Wednesday, he said the LDF and the UDF governments didn't take any initiatives for the sanctuary declared in 2006.

"They, in fact, stand as an impediment," he told reporters. "Both are protecting big encroachments. The people have to protect and implement the Kurinji sanctuary."

Mr Rajasekaran said the two were trying to protect the Eucalyptus mafia which is making crores of rupees.

He said the NDA state unit would take over the mission of realising the sanctuary and start an agitation.

He said the Eucalyptus mafia had destroyed the rarest Neelakurinji and the forest department should book them.

The land should be taken back from encroachers including Idukki MP Joice George. The delegation included P.K. Krishnadas and C.K. Janu.
