VM Sudheeran calls PAC meet on January 14
Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran has decided convene the high-power Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting taking note of the non-cooperation of former chief minister Oommen Chandy over the appointment of DCC presidents.
The PAC will meet on January 14 at 10 am at Indira Bhavan. He has also called the meeting of all the 14 DCC presidents on January 10 at 10 am so as to take steps to strengthen the party.
The PAC could not meet for more than three months now due to the non-cooperation of Mr Chandy. Mr Sudheeran had earlier commented that the meeting would be held at Mr Chandy’s convenience. However, Mr Chandy had vaguely told reporters that he would attend the meet if he were in the capital.
Sources close to him told DC that he is unlikely to attend the meeting of the 21-member PAC formed by AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Though his behaviour has not gone down well with the AICC leadership, he has confided to his coterie that he felt humiliated by their action.
The appointment of DCC presidents was announced on Dec 8 when he was in Dubai. “He felt they did not bother to take him into confidence when Mr Sudheeran and Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala joined hands. He was not against DCC presidents not identified with the two groups. But at the end, he got a rude jolt when the two walked away with a major chunk to their camps,” said a leader close to him.
Meanwhile, the DCC presidents’ meet on January 10 will discuss agitation programmes against the anti-people policies of the state and Union governments.
