Vivekananda of BRS trumps Harish for record majority

Hyderabad: BRS legislator K.P. Vivekananda entered the record books having secured the highest majority over the nearest opponent in the 2023 Assembly elections, results of which were declared here on Sunday.

Three-time MLA Vivekananda secured a record margin of 85,576 pushing his party colleague T. Harish Rao to the second place. Rao, who registered his seventh win, enjoyed a win-margin of 82,308 votes. This election broke his record of the victory margin increasing with every election.

BRS MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao from Kukatpally stood third with a 70,387-vote margin. Congress winner from Nakrekal Vemulla Veersham was fourth, winning by 68,839 votes, and was followed by his colleague K. Premsagar Rao, with a 66,116-vote margin.

Others who won with a majority in excess of 50,000 votes included N. Padmavathi Reddy (Kodad, 58,172), K. Kanakaiah (Yellandu, 57,309), Makkan Singh Raj Thakur (Ramagundam, 56,794) and K. Jayaveer Reddy (Nagarjunasagar, 55,849 votes).
