Bloomers galore in GHMC voter lists

Experts suggested that Aadhar should be linked to the voter ID so that when the change of address is entered

HYDERABAD: The number of voters reflected in the data provided by the Election Commission has to be verified as many voters have been shown twice and even thrice in different places in the voter lists. Names of tenants, who have vacated, are mentioned both in their old and new addresses while names of those who have died have not been deleted.

MLA Kalavakuntla Kavitha is in the news as her name figures in Pothangal, Bodhan and also in Hyderabad. With an estimated 74 lakh and odd voters in GHMC, experts have suggested that Aadhar should be linked to the voter card so that when the change of address is entered, automatically the division and constituency will change, accordingly.

Around three to five lakh voters, who attained 18 years, have not been able to exercise their right to vote as the elections were advanced by 70 days.
According to M. Padmanabha Reddy, secretary, Forum for Good Governance, the Election Commission should link Aadhar or any such software which can identify duplications.
