Hyderabad: The BJP is hoping to gain ground in the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency by playing the card of Central government’s assistance in addressing issues. Much of the constituency falls under the defence ministry.
Minister for state for home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, campaigned for the BJP on Sunday, laid out three assurances to address major issues. The minister participated in roadshows in Annanagar and Risala Bazaar in favour of party candidate Sri Ganesh, a former Congress leader.
Many of the people who are staying without pattas in the cantonment area would get proper land registration and recognition, the minister said.
He also promised that the strict building bye laws can be modified and relaxed with the introduction of single the window system.
The minister added, “Candidates should get a chance to contest the Secunderabad Cantonment Board elections with their party symbols, which gives more transparency and accountability, like in the Pune cantonment.” At present though candidates belong to political parties, the elections do not include party names.
There was no major takeaway for residents who were expecting some assurance on reopening roads that were closed by the Local Military Authority, which is affecting connectivity for thousands of civilians. Opening the roads has been one of the major demands from the residents.k...
