Mangaluru Seer ready to do a Yogi
Mangaluru: Controversial seer Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Mutt in Mangaluru, who has been in the spotlight for his Hindutva speeches and “Ghar Wapsi” of a Christian family, is now preparing to contest the elections on BJP ticket if the party decides to offer him one.
Located in Gurupur village, Vajradehi Mutt is 15 km from Mangaluru and its seer, Rajashekharananda Swamiji is respected among saffron outfit leaders, especially Bajrang Dal workers. A firebrand, his Hindutva speeches also have great appeal among the young. Speaking to DC, the seer said he was contacted by BJP leaders from Delhi, who wanted to know if he was willing to contest the 2018 elections in Karnataka. “Joining politics was never my aim. I have never taken any initiative to enter it. But nine months ago BJP leaders contacted me from Delhi and a few days ago, it was suggested during the Sangh programme in North Karnataka that I should join politics. Considering all this, I have decided to contest elections. As I am working for Hindutva and Hinduism I will contest on a BJP ticket as it is a party with a similar ideology," he explained, adding,” I am involved in social and religious work and now am ready to serve people through politics as well. I would like to follow Yogi Adityanathji.”
But the seer was clear he did not want to step on any toes within the BJP in the process. "I am a sanyasi and have no desire . I am ready to contest from any constituency that the party offers me. But I will contest only if all party workers and leaders are okay with it. I have no political ambitions," he asserted.
