Yeddyurappa-Eshwarappa: An uneasy truce still prevails
The peace pact between state BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa and leader of the Opposition in the Council K.s. Eshwarappa , could come apart soon because differences persist between the two leaders.
About ten days ago, top RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale brokered peace between these two leaders and ensured that they work together. The upshot: Mr Eshwarappa not only stopped his vituperative attack against Mr Yeddyurappa but met the Lingayat strongman a couple of times as well. On his part, Mr Yeddyurappa agreed to change at least four district unit presidents.
Mr. Eshwarappa reportedly told his supporters that he would not give up his fight and would continue to attend meetings of SRB if invited by the office bearers. He was convinced that such meetings would help consolidate the votes of Kurubas ahead of polls in 2018. Besides, several seers of maths of the backward classes were keen that the SRB should continue as an apolitical forum. Therefore, he has decided to attend one SRB meeting at Nandagada in Belagavi district on November 6.
