Vijayawada: Alleging irregularities in the preparation of a list of beneficiaries of Polavaram project affected people to provide relief, AP BJP chief Somu Veerraju demanded the state government reveal their socio-economic survey.
Taking part in the ‘Praja Poru’ programme at Kunavaram on Saturday, the BJP senior leader slammed both the opposition Telugu Desam and the ruling YSR Congress governments for failing to send the socio-economic survey carried out on the Polavaram project that affected people for years and asked whether they were nervous that submission of such a survey would expose their lapses.
Maintaining that the Centre was ready to release funds once such a survey was submitted to it, he asked why they were unable to submit it for so long and blamed them for playing a drama shifting blame on the Centre claiming that it was not releasing funds to cover up their mistakes.
In a strong retort to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s recent statement that unless the Centre released funds, he could not provide relief and rehabilitation to the Polavaram project-affected people as he did not have enough money to do so, the BJP leader asked him why he was not making any effort to hand over the execution of the Polavaram project to the Centre.
